REMIXING MAR VISTA HOUSING

FALL 2020

This housing project ingrains itself into the fabric of Gregory Ain’s Mar Vista Tract in Los Angeles, California through a series of public and shared spaces negotiating the north and center of the block. A stream of public space carves between the new housing elements as a series of volumetric landscapes create shared spaces for residents to use; similar to Schots 1 + 2 by s333 Architects in Groningen, Netherlands. The housing complex along the, busy, north end of the black is comprised of apartments with common spaces between apartment residents. Townhome-style housing with private outdoor spaces are placed adjacent to original Ain lots, and are accessed from the sidewalks, or by the shared green space. Each townhouse and apartment complex host a number of typical dwelling unit types to allow for people in all stages of life to inhabit and interact.
