UDBS BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME

SPRING 2022

This Urban Design Build Studio is the second semester in a series of studios at the University of Arkansas geared toward the development of affordable housing in Northwest Arkansas. Throughout the studio I worked with an interdisciplinary group to research the region as well as the idea of home developing presentations for potential financers as well as homeowners about the benefits of affordable housing in the region. This studio began with us developing our own idea of 'home' and what it means to us individually. We then began to understand the demographic data of the region, and my research also began to look closer at the possible financial funding that could be used to fund affordable housing. I also looked closer at a CLT project as a means of understanding one potential innovation for the project. Our team specifically looked into designing a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home that would be placed in Fayetteville, AR. The project was specifically referred to as the AR-80 house. As a team, we attempted to create 4 houses based on different types. We also developed engagement tools which we performed with stakeholders, community members, and other professionals.
